Awards and Employee Accolades Accent a Night at the ADDYs for Paulsen Marketing

Guest blogging today is Krystil Smit, public relations director.

When it comes to awards, the only thing more satisfying than seeing client work recognized is when one of your own dedicated employees is honored, and that was the case for Paulsen Marketing at the South Dakota Advertising Federation’s 47th annual ADDY Awards Show.

Paulsen celebrated an honored colleague and accepted three awards at the ADDYs held March 15 in Sioux Falls.

Paulsen’s top award of the night was a Gold ADDY for a 60-second TV commercial produced on behalf of the South Dakota Corn Utilization Council titled, “Feed The World.”

Paulsen won two Silver ADDYs as well – one in the Digital Advertising, Tablet Category for the Raven Product Guide App that Paulsen produced for Raven Industries (available from iTunes and Google Play); and another in the Elements of Advertising, Illustration category for Cooperative Credit’s 2012 Annual Report.

Several Paulsenites were in attendance to support colleague Janet Andersen as she received the 2012 Creative Legacy Award.

In 2005 the South Dakota Advertising Federation developed the Creative Legacy Award as a way to recognize individuals in the local advertising community who have set the standard for creative accomplishment within the industry, achieved an impressive body of work in their career and serve as a mentor or inspiration to co-workers.

With over 30 years in the Sioux Falls area advertising industry, Janet has been integral to the progress and successful growth of communications in the region. She is a senior project manager at Paulsen and works one-on-one with clients as an account executive while also managing projects internally. Because of Janet’s deep experience in graphics and production, she’s able to offer valuable insights to key agency clients and bridge the communications gap between account service and creative.

Our agency produced a special video to commemorate Janet’s Creative Legacy Award.

Congratulations Janet!

Halloween is a Special Day at Paulsen!

Every day is a creative day at Paulsen Marketing, but Halloween is especially so. It’s the day that most of our staff go all out with their imaginations to make the day a very special event. And this year was no exception.

Another reason it’s such a festive occasion is that October 31st is our Senior Art Director’s birthday. Each year Kristie Weiberg rallies the troops to help her celebrate her special day. As you can see from these photos, she brings out the creative best in all of us at Paulsen Marketing.

Happy Birthday Kristie!

Why Halloween is a Special Day at Paulsen Marketing

If you’ve followed this blog for the past three years (and who hasn’t?), you recognize that Halloween is an extra special event at Paulsen Marketing. There are two reasons for that.

First, in a creative services business such as ours, Halloween is one day out of the year that our folks can freely express their creativity in a very overt way. And as photos from Halloweens past can attest, Paulsen-ites demonstrate their creativity and imagination in very extraordinary ways. It’s what you would expect from a business whose lifeblood is creativity.

The second reason for our special emphasis is because our Senior Art Director, Kristie...

Paulsen Garden Harvest is a Recipe for Community Sharing

Guest blogging today is Lee Larson, associate media director.

Community gardens have seen a surge in popularity recently and we, the Paulsenites, decided we wanted to get in on the action. So we did.

A plot was designed, the backyard was staked and soon thereafter we broke ground for the first-ever Paulsen garden.

Removing the sod involved many out-of-the-ordinary job duties for some of us. It also provided a new opportunity to learn all about back pain medications. Nonetheless, we persevered and got that garden going!

“Harvest time” in the garden proved to bring a sense of accomplishment to the gardeners and...

Paulsen's Kickball Team Wraps up Successful Season

Guest blogging today is Danita Tegethoff, Client Services Manager.

As we kick off the weekend this Friday, many of us will be taking in a sporting event. There’s a slice of Americana at any athletic gathering.

Whether it is a kid’s soccer game, a collegiate event, a televised professional matchup or a rousing game of flag football in the backyard, many of us enjoy the camaraderie, loyalty and competitiveness of a team working for a win.

When it comes to doing our best as a team, Paulsen employees are fiercely competitive. That same spirit was taken outside of the office this summer for Paulsen’s kickball team in the Sioux...
